Finding Key Moments in the Marketplace
Opportunity rarely announces itself with fanfare.
There's a saying that "opportunity knocks." Sometimes that's true. But more often, we have to go looking for it; and even more often, we have to recognize it when it's already standing right in front of us.
That recognition starts with awareness. Paying attention to what's happening around you. Noticing the people already in your life and the moments already taking shape. Opportunity rarely announces itself with fanfare. It tends to show up quietly, dressed like an ordinary Tuesday, in conversations and settings that don't feel significant until you stop and look a little closer.
Moments like the World Cup are a perfect example. It's already the talk of the office. People are making plans, picking favorites, and looking for places to gather. You don't have to manufacture a reason to connect because the reason is built in. And in that kind of environment, something remarkable becomes possible: walls come down, conversations go deeper, and trust begins to form in ways that don't happen in the normal rush of work and life.

And once gatherings are planned, someone paying attention can turn an ordinary evening into a turning point. The question is whether we're paying that kind of attention.
For those of us who follow Jesus, this isn't just a good strategy. It's a calling. Paul writes in Colossians 4:5–6 that we should live wisely among outsiders, make the most of every opportunity, and let our conversations be gracious and purposeful. God is already at work in the people around us, often in ways we can't immediately see. Our role isn't to engineer outcomes or impress anyone. Our role is to stay present, stay available, and trust that showing up faithfully in small moments is exactly how larger things begin.
This is where Victory Beyond the Cup, a campaign from Cru, connects so naturally with LeaderImpact. LeaderImpact exists for marketplace leaders who want to grow not just in what they do, but in who they are. It creates space for honest conversations about leadership, life, and faith in small group settings led by Christian marketplace leaders living on mission. Some participants are followers of Jesus; others are still exploring. But everyone shares a desire to grow and to make a meaningful impact in their work and relationships.
A watch party is one of the easiest invitations you'll ever extend, and the Victory Beyond the Cup host kit gives you practical tools to make the most of it, helping you move from a good evening together toward something more meaningful with the spiritually curious friends and colleagues already in your life. At the end of the night, you really just need one genuine question: "I've really enjoyed this. Would you want to get together again sometime to talk more about leadership and life?" Simple. Intentional. And often, that's all it takes.
From there, LeaderImpact provides a clear path forward. LeaderImpact’s group material, such as Becoming a Leader of Impact and any of the Integrated Life Series help to facilitate the conversation connecting leadership with purpose, values, and belief in a practical way. You don’t have to create everything from scratch or feel like you have all the answers. You simply invite people and create a space for spiritual conversations.
Not every opportunity deserves a yes, and part of leading well is developing the judgment to know which ones do. But wisdom that never leads to action isn't really wisdom at all. The leaders who make the most lasting impact are usually the ones who learned to move before they felt completely ready.
The real victory beyond the cup isn't won on the field. It's found in the impact you make in the lives of the people right in front of you.
Don't miss it.
